THC butter, which is also known as cannabutter is popular among people who live in all parts of the world. It is considered to be one of the key ingredients in the production of cannabis edibles. Cannabutter is termed an extraction because the terpenes and cannabinoids are being used to create the butter are extracted from the cannabis plant. The extraction is then infused into ordinary butter fat. This butter gives life to a normal recipe and it can be used to make a variety of food items.
Even though it is possible to make cannabutter at home, most people don’t tend to do it because they find it a hard task to locate the required ingredients. Even though they can simply purchase butter from the local supermarket, they will not be able to buy cannabis from the supermarket. In most states, obtaining the marijuana is the most difficult task as cannabis is yet to be legalized. Even people who live in states where cannabis is legalized find it a difficult task to gain access to cannabutter because it is only produced for medical purposes. To acquire the medical marijuana one would need a medical marijuana card. Because of all these reasons, people tend to purchase THC butter from the market, instead of making it at home.
Method:
-
The first step is decarboxylating your cannabis. Essentially, this activates the cannabinoids in the cannabis, making them able to be absorbed by your body, resulting in a high shortly following ingestion. Without this step, you would not feel the effects of the cannabis. Preheat over to 215 degrees Fahrenheit. Crumble or grind your cannabis, then spread evenly on a lined baking sheet. Bake for up to 45 minutes, checking along the way to ensure it is not burning. The resulting color of the cannabis will be a much darker green, verging on brown. Remove from oven and set aside.
-
On the stovetop, add your butter and water into a saucepan over low heat. As the butter begins to melt, toss in your decarbed cannabis. Stir and incorporate as this mixture begins to lightly simmer. Cover the pan to keep the mixture from reducing too much, and stir frequently. The slower you go at this stage, the better, simmering for up to 4 hours for maximum potency. Remove pan from heat.
-
Stretch several layers of cheesecloth over a bowl and pour butter mixture through to remove any large pieces of cannabis flower. The finer your strain, the better the butter! Being mindful of the high temperature, carefully collect the ends of the cheesecloth and wring out to make sure you get all the butter through. Pour the cooling butter from the bowl into a mold, an ice cube tray works great! Refrigerate or store in freezer when everything has solidified. The shelf life will be similar to regular butter.
